Grandmaster Sin Thé filmed an informative video on the basic martial arts principles passed on to him from Grandmaster Ie Chang Ming. This 2-hour DVD is packed with stories about his life and his training, many of which he has never publicly shared before. The DVD is available at the New Orleans School for $20.
Bywater Neighborhood The Bywater Neighborhood Association (BNA), founded in 1975, is a non-profit neighborhood organization dedicated to the preservation and improvement of this national historic district. They sponsor the popular Mirliton Festival each fall, with local music, food, and crafts. The Joint serves fantastic Carolina-style barbeque at 801 Poland Ave. Coffea is a beautiful coffee house/gallery at 3218 Dauphine St. Bacchanal Fine Wine and Spirits, 600 Poland Ave, is a wine bar so hip and happening, they don't even have a web site! ICInola is a sustainable, mixed-use development coming soon to Burgundy St. in the Bywater. This will be a groundbreaking experiment in green building and infill development. Bywater Art Market is held in Markey Park (corner Dauphine and Piety) the third Saturday of each month 9am-4pm. It's sponsored by the New Orleans Art Conservation Guild and art supply store, 3620 Royal St. Elizabeth's Restaurant is a long-time favorite for New Orleans style brunch. Jack Dempsey's Restaurant, 738 Poland Ave is an old standby for fried seafood. Societe de Sainte Anne is the largest, most colorful marching krewe on Mardi Gras Day.
